Medical Sciences (covering anatomy, physiology, pathology and nutrition)

This module of the course teaches you the essentials that you need to be a competent homeopath. The aim is not to overwhelm you with medical terminology and with complex processes. Instead, our aim is to ensure that when you have a patient with pathology in a particular part of the body, that you have an idea of where that pathology is, and how it is manifesting. So all knowledge presented in this module is completely in terms of how it can be used by you as a practitioner.

Additionally, our focus is particularly on the knowledge that a Homeopath would find useful, rather than a doctor. So we focus on the energetic nature of anatomy, physiology and pathology, as this is more relevant to you than the mechanistic understanding that a conventional physician would use.

During this module you will never be presented with particular remedies for particular disease labels. We believe that this is not how homeopathic philosophy views diseases. As each person with a particular disease label will require a remedy unique to them, it is impossible, and thoroughly un-homeopathic, to view particular remedies as being for particular diseases.

The main areas of the body that we cover in this module are:

  • Skin
  • The senses
  • Digestive system
  • Respiratory system
  • Circulatory system
  • Musculo-skeletal system
  • Reproductive system
  • Central Nervous System
  • Mental Health and Illness

Years 3 and 4

As your understanding of the workings of the body develops, we start to explore complex pathology. We will now start to explore complex disease processes, and explain how homeopathy should be used in these areas.

Nutrition

The basis of good health is good nutrition, and therefore we feel it is essential that students are able to advise their patients on how best to maintain their health. The aim of this module is not to use nutrition in a therapeutic way, to try and remove symptoms of illness and disease. We believe these are best removed with a homeopathic prescription. Rather, a good understanding of nutrition allows patients to maintain their good health once it has been achieved with homeopathic treatment.
